Pinzolo
Church of San Vigilio
The ancient church of San Vigilio is located slightly away from Pinzolo, halfway to Carisolo. Built in 1362 and enlarged in 1515, it blends Romanesque and Gothic forms. Famous worldwide for the Danza Macabra, the cycle of frescoes completed by Simone Baschenis (a dynasty of itinerant artists) that decorates the south side of the church on the outside. The theme, widespread in northern Europe but also present in France and Portugal, represents the equality of all in the face of death.
Carisolo
Church of Santo Stefano
Perched on a granite cliff overlooking the mouth of the Val di Genova. The southern exterior is entirely frescoed with paintings by Simone Baschenis who, with his Danza Macabra, immortalised death admonishing those still alive and the seven deadly sins. Tradition has it that it was built on the ruins of a pre-existing castle destroyed by Charlemagne.
Pelugo
Church of S. Antonio Abate
It dates back to the 15th century and is characterised by the horizontal progression of its structure opposed by the verticality of the narrow bell tower. It consists of a single, not very wide nave, covered by a pitched roof, supported on the front by a truss. Of great importance are the frescoes on the façade, the work of Cristoforo Baschenis, Simone's brother.

Stenico
Stenico Castle
A fortification of early medieval origin, perched on a rocky ridge dominating the basin of the Giudicarie esteriori, Castel Stenico is a symbol of the power of the prince-bishops of Trento in this region. On the outside it appears as a severe and imposing fortress, while inside sculptural decorations and valuable frescoes give it the appearance of an elegant residence. Today, the rooms are elegantly furnished with fine carved and inlaid furniture, valuable paintings, white and firearms, and ancient utensils for everyday use in copper, iron and wood, from the collections of Buonconsiglio Castle.
Trento
Buonconsiglio Castle
is the largest and most important monumental complex in the Trentino Alto Adige region, enclosed within city walls, seat of the prince-bishops and symbol of the city. It consists of three main nuclei (Castelvecchio, Giunta Albertiana and Magno Palazzo), built in different periods, in a succession of frescoed halls, loggias overlooking the city and the inner courtyard. At the southern end of the complex is Torre Aquila, which houses the famous “Cycle of the Months”, an international Gothic masterpiece. Buonconsiglio.
Val di Non
Thun Castle
Austere and majestic, it dominates the valley from above. Home to one of the most powerful feudal families in the region, it is surrounded by a complex system of fortifications consisting of towers, walls, ramparts, patrol path and moat. In the vast interior spaces there are numerous rooms, which retain their rich original furnishings. Particularly noteworthy is the 16th-century Bishop's Room, entirely clad in stone pine wood. The gallery of carriages, with carriages, service carriages, sports carriages and sleighs, is also impressive.
